“A String of Unfortunate Events” is an apology letter written by Nick Burchill addressed to the Empress Hotel, in an attempt to explain his side of a chaotic story and lift his 18-year ban. Seagull Book retells the story in the form of a newsprint accordion book, in which each spread unfolds into a poster as the reader recounts the events from Nick’s comedic point of view.
